OLDFIELD
DECATUR - James A. 'Jim' Oldfield Sr., 65, of Decatur died 8:40 a.m. Monday (August 18, 1997) in his home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery. Memorials: donor's choice.
Mr. Oldfield was born in Monticello on April 2, 1932, the son of H.S. 'Barney' and Virena Moffett Oldfield Jr. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He retired in 1987 after 37 years with Wagner Castings Co. where he was a general foreman. He married Dorma E. Ward on April 8, 1951, in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife; sons, James A. Oldfield Jr. and wife Deborah of Caledonia, Mich.; Terry L. Oldfield of Mount Zion; daughter, Dawn E. Redfearn and husband Mike of Hartselle, Ala.; brothers, Lyle Oldfield and wife Sandy of Springfield; Roger Oldfield of Decatur; sisters, Norma Carter and husband Roy, Jennie McDaniel and husband Francis, Carolyn Morville and husband Roy, and Janet Durbin and husband Tom, all of Decatur; seven grandchildren, James A. Oldfield III, Jonathan Oldfield and Jason Oldfield, all of Caledonia, Mich.; Sarah and Seth Oldfield of Decatur; Stephen and Kelsey Redfearn of Hartselle, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

OLDFIELD BLUE MOUND
Lyle E. (Pete) Oldfield, 64, of Springfield, formerly of Blue Mound, died 7:45 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 28, 1998) in Lewis Gale Hospital, Roanoke, Va.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Ater-Wikoff Funeral Home, blue Mound, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound. Memorials: Heart Association.
Mr. Oldfield was born in Monticello on June 18, 1934, the son of Sherman and Virena Moffett Oldfield. He was a retired building contractor and butcher and was affiliated with the New Salem Assembly of God, Petersburg. He married Sandra Mibb onAug. 13, 1974.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Greg Oldfield and wife Cyndee of Decatur; Philip Oldfield and wife Tammy of New Castle,VA.; daughter, Cindy Trimby and husband Greg of Decatur; stepsons, Robert Tolle and wife Nola of Springfield; Rick Tolle and wife Kathy of Witt; Ronnie Tolle of Texas; Tim McCoy and wife Renee of Sherman; stepdaughter, Teresa McCoy of Springfield; brother, Roger (Barney) Oldfield of Decatur; sisters, Norma Jean Carter and husband Roy, Jennie McDaniel and husband Francis, Carolyn Morville and husband Roy, and Jeanet Durbin and husband Tom, all of Decatur; 20 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James, and son, Barry.
'Pete' took great pride in his accomplishments and his ability to make something from nothing. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the little things in life. He took his sense of humor everywhere he went. He was a loving father, grandfather, friend and an inspiration to us all. He will be deeply missed. We love you Dad

CARTER
DECATUR - Norma Jean Carter, 70, of Decatur died 8:54 a.m. Saturday (March 6, 1999) in her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Salem Baptist Church with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in Brintlinger's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery. Memorials: Salem Baptist Church or donor's choice.
Mrs. Carter was born July 17, 1928, in Monticello, the daughter of Harrison S. Oldfield and Virena Moffett Oldfield. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and attended Salem Baptist Church. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Assumption and belonged to the Moose Lodge. She married Clifford L. Carter Sr. on January 11, 1986.
Surviving are her husband; son, Richard O. McDaniel of Decatur; sisters, Jennie McDanel and husband Francis, Carolyn Morville and husband Roy Jr. and Janet Durbin and husband Tom, all of Decatur; brother, Roger D. Oldfield of Decatur; stepchildren, Clifford Carter Jr. and wife Beverly of Clearwater, FL; Susan Miller and husband George of Niantic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Orvel McDaniel and Lyle Harbarger, brothers, James Oldfield Sr and Lyle 'Pete' Oldfield.
